A return to Alexandra Palace in London with The Om Yoga Show 2017. If you’ve read my previous blogs you’ll be aware that I’m quite a fan of these events which focus on sharing all things Yoga from woollen yoga mats through to raw, cold-pressed, organic, sustainable, environmentally friendly and of course vegan paraphernalia. Of course there is much more to the three day event than what I’ve alluded to. Great talent and variety – here’s a snapshot shown in their highlights video below;

So with a full day ahead of me as they opened the doors at 10am for day 2, I sauntered in meandering around the hall of exhibitors while orientating myself with the location  of  classes & seminars I’d be attending (the later I always find a challenge as there always seems to be two sessions I want to attend scheduled for the same time slot).  However, I was certain of the following workshop that caught my interest from Sally Parkes Yoga*. I resonated straight away with the theme of spine health as its been a topic I’ve been exploring and sharing in sessions and through social media. Long before I started my Yoga training I’d have requests for back strengthening exercises or activity that wouldn’t aggravate an ‘iffy’ back. It has continued to be a focus within my 1-1 and group sessions so you can expect more to feature here and on the better wellbeing website thanks to inspiration from Sally’s workshop serving as a timely prompt

So with all that said, I didn’t expect to be on the actual stage alongside Sally to help with demonstrations! I still like to consider myself as a ‘not that flexible’ Yogi and perspired throughout trying to hold each pose. Chatting with Sally afterwards my insecurities were put to rest a little as we considered the irony of the many, hypermobile yoga aficionados require the very same spine/back mobility or strength protocols as the less mobile. The small point being that hopefully my humble demonstration served as an average level perhaps or a rough guide at least. In fact the oversubscribed workshop contained a varied audience of abilities including support right at the side of the stage from the lovely we_are_vgang
